Foundation objects to auction of purported vial of Reagan’s blood

Ronald Reagan’s foundation expressed outrage on Monday at a British company’s auction of what it says is a vial of the late U.S. president’s blood taken at the hospital where he was treated after a 1981 assassination attempt.

PFC Auctions, a company based in Guernsey in the United Kingdom, announced on Sunday that it would sell the vial of blood in an online auction set to end on Thursday.

The vial was taken at George Washington University Hospital on March 30, 1981, after Reagan was wounded by John Hinckley Jr. in Washington, D.C., PFC Auctions said on its website. It is said to have come from a person whose late mother had worked at a medical lab.

“If indeed this story is true, it’s a craven act and we will use every legal means to stop its sale or purchase,” John Heubusch, executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, said in a statement.

The website for PFC Auctions said the latest online bid for the vial stood at 6,270 British pounds. A PFC Auctions representative could not be reached for comment.

The website for PFC Auctions showed a picture of the blood-filled vial with a label stuck to it showing the president’s name.

Body Parts Found in Canada Came From One Man, Police Say

Three human body parts – a foot, torso and hand – that were discovered separately on Tuesday all came from the same victim, a man who apparently had been killed and dismembered in a Montreal apartment, the police there said Wednesday.

The first discovery occurred Tuesday morning when a package with a crudely drawn heart and what appeared to be bloodstains on the outside arrived at the Ottawa offices of the Conservative Party of Canada. Inside, party staff members found the foot.

That same morning in Montreal, a janitor opened a foul-smelling suitcase that had been sitting since Friday near the apartment where he works, the authorities said. Inside, the janitor found the torso.

On Tuesday evening, the police searched a postal sorting station in Ottawa and found a parcel that news reports said was addressed to the Liberal Party of Can

ada. Its contents: a human hand.

Police said they were seeking the tenant of the Montreal apartment, Rocco Luka Magnotta, 29, on suspicion of murder.

Online postings indicate that Mr. Magnotta has worked as a model and a stripper and has appeared in adult films. Several Canadian news organizations reported that the police had recovered videos of the killing and dismemberment of the victim, whose identity they know but have not released.

Man Dies After Eating Cocaine From His Brother’s Butt

Wayne Mitchell, 20, was instructed by his 23-year-old brother Deangelo Mitchell to swallow the ounce of cocaine in order to hide evidence of possession and died as a result.

Plans Move Forward For RoboCop Statue

Plans are moving forward for a Detroit statue of the fictional crime-fighting cyborg RoboCop.

The Detroit News reports Wednesday that a RoboCop model is being scanned at a studio in Canada. When the scanning process is completed, artists will create foam pieces that will be shipped to Detroit’s Venus Bronze Works, where the parts of the statue will be cast.

Arkansas legalized teacher-student sex

The Arkansas Supreme Court overturned a law prohibiting sexual interaction between teachers and students when it reversed a teacher’s conviction of sexual assault.

David Paschal, a former teacher at Elkins High School engaged in a sexual relationship with one of his students in 2010. The student who was 18 years old, alerted authorities of her relationship with Paschal after the two separated.

The former history and psychology instructor was charged with four counts of sexual assault and was sentence to 30 years behind bars.
